Elder Caregivers Available for the Senior Community in La Canada

Happy Independence Day Everyone!

Here at A-1 Home Care, we know a lot about the importance of freedom and independence. To some people, more freedom can mean being able to go out without any worry of repercussions that may com in form of lectures from parents, or late work or school projects due to procrastination. But for seniors and the elder community, independence can mean the freedom to live at home by oneself without the fear of being alone and without anyone to alert in case of emergencies.

It is a very real fear that is shared in the elder community and it is why we, here at A-1 Home Care, would like to offer families in La Canada the opportunity to hire their very own 24 Hour and In Home caregiver to watch over senior family members. Under their care, seniors will not have to worry about burdening any family members with daily errands. Not only that, but they can be assured their needs are taken seriously. Our live in caregivers have 2 years or more of caregiver experience, so they are perfectly adept at handling any facet of care including Alzheimer's & Dementia Care, Parkinson's Care and Companion Care.

Making preparations for Mom/ Elder Law & Conservatorship

First, the symptoms were slight. Mom sometimes started misplacing things, forgetting steps to long used recipes, or just seemed a little forgetful. Now the diagnosis is clear. She is losing her memory to Alzheimer's disease.

Suddenly, everything is a whirlwind. There are arrangements to make. Between yourself and your siblings, mom's arrangements for self care, living expenses, and legal power of attorney must be determined. It's a difficult time for your family, but plans must be made to ensure the best quality of life for your mother.

This is where an elder law attorney comes in. Elder law attorneys handles cases in which elderly or special needs adults require conservators to handle their essential decisions. When an elder cannot handle basic decisions regarding food, shelter, medical decisions, and daily living, it's time to make changes.

A-1 Home Care has worked with elders and their conservators for years. We assist seniors who live in  La Canada, Flintridge, Los Angeles, Altadena,Pasadena, South Pasadena, Glendale, San Marino, Burbank and other cities in Los Angeles County.

Planning activities for seniors with dementia/ A-1 Home Care in La Canada

So how do our caregivers plan days with elders who have dementia?

When planning an activity for someone who is coping with dementia, the plan must remain dynamic. It is very unlikely to finish what is started or that it will turn out exactly as planned. That is why the goal is never the actual activity. The true activity is hearing elderly loves ones laugh, watching them smile and knowing that for a moment they are happy. Someone who is struggling with Alzheimer not only can change on a day-to-day basis, but on a moment-to-moment basis. To remain encouraged, keep an open mind and be willing to try new things.

A-1 Home Care has agents who provide consultations for elders interested in homecare. We are a nonmedical home health agency with experienced in home caregivers who are fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured.

Call us if you live in La Canada, Flintridge, Los Angeles, Altadena,Pasadena, South Pasadena, Glendale, San Marino, Burbank and other cities in Los Angeles County.
